This is one principle of natural strength I’ve known about for some time, but it wasn’t until recently while watching this video from Solovyov systema, that I thought it was worth writing about on this blog:
Look at how he is able to throw his opponent once he engages the spine.
Posture in Systema
Martin Wheeler explains the importance of posture when fighting multiple opponents. The classic hunched or closed posture used in boxing or hakka Kung fu, is good for one focal point, but to be able to engage multiple targets around you… for this it takes a straight spine.
